It was actually an extremely easy process! I made my design in Photoshop and then ordered a custom Fat Quarter of fabric from Spoonflower. It came in about a week and only cost $10 and 120 of my label designs fit on one Fat Quarter!
I have to say, I am pretty happy with how they turned out!
I absolutely love this idea - I was looking for labels earlier this week and those thing are expensive! Did you leave the edges raw or did you iron them under, then sew? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Shalon - I did iron the raw edges under. After multiple attempts (and burning my fingers many times) I found a pretty effective way of securing the raw edges under. I just added a post this morning explaining how to iron the edges under: http://coldhandswarmheartcrafts.blogspot.com/2012/01/tip-for-perfectly-folding-your-fabric.html
ReplyDeleteHope this helps!
Wonderful - thank you again! I can't wait to design my own. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tutorial. I just ordered my fabric from Spoonflower (http://twinfamous.blogspot.com/2012/01/customized-labels-part-i.html). Can't wait to see how it turns out!
